
Winter turns municipal buildings into budget black holes, and tented workspaces are often the hardest to heat. Forced-air systems fight a losing battle against high ceilings and constant door traffic, and the energy meters pay the price. When the heat can’t keep up, productivity stalls and maintenance crews get swamped. We built our infrared tent heaters to deal with that reality, straight up.
What matters, technically
These units use short-wave infrared technology. The warmth is radiant, so it travels through the air without dumping all its energy into the air first. You feel heat on people, tools, and floors immediately, not up in the rafters where it’s useless. Each heater runs on standard 240V, draws 4.0–6.0 kW depending on the model, and uses a quartz tube element inside a sealed, weather-resistant steel body rated IP34. A built-in thermostat holds the set temperature, and you get tip-over protection plus a thermal cut-off for peace of mind.
Why this works for municipal budgets
Public heating costs climb when heat bleeds out through vents and open doorways. Infrared warms the solid surfaces people actually touch, so comfort stays steady even when doors swing open and shut. Because the heat is directional, you’re only paying to warm the occupied zone, not the whole volume of air. Municipalities typically see 20–35% reductions in winter energy use compared to conventional systems in tented and high-bay spaces. Fewer cycling losses, fewer drafts, and fewer service calls—those savings add up.
A few practical notes
Infrared heats people and objects directly, so the air temperature can feel a few degrees lower than the thermostat setting. Start with a slightly higher setpoint, then bring it down as staff get used to it. These heaters need a dedicated 240V circuit and should be mounted 6–8 feet high for even coverage. They perform well in wind-protected tents, but heavy drafts will cut effectiveness. Pair them with wind curtains at entry points, and you’ll keep the heat where it belongs.
