
Keeping Your Bathroom Warm Without Blinding Your Kids
When we set out to build these IP65 infrared heaters, we had two big problems to solve: steam and glare. Bathrooms are brutal on electronics. But beyond the moisture, there’s the light. Most infrared heaters blast out this blinding white light that’s just too much—especially for babies or anyone with sensitive eyes. Nobody wants to start their morning feeling like they’ve stared into the sun. The trick to the light We didn’t want to sacrifice the heat just to get rid of the glare. So, we used a special kind of quartz glass with a filtered coating. It basically scrubs out those harsh blue-light peaks but lets the warmth slide right through. You feel the heat on your skin immediately, but the light stays soft. No retinal stress, no squinting. Just warmth. Dealing with the steam Now, about the water. If a heater isn’t sealed right, steam and splashes will fry the internals in a matter of days. To stop that, we leaned heavily on reinforced seals and silicone gaskets. That’s how we hit the IP65 rating—it keeps the dust and water jets far away from the electrical guts. But here’s the catch: when you seal something that tight, the heat gets trapped inside. To keep the wiring from getting brittle or burning out, we used alloys that move heat away from the internals quickly. It keeps the unit healthy and ensures it actually lasts. Getting it installed We made these a “drop-in” fit for standard ceiling fixtures, so you aren’t ripping your whole bathroom apart to install them. We also used gold-plated contacts. Why? Because humidity loves to eat through metal, and gold doesn’t corrode. One quick tip: make sure your grounding is solid. If it’s not, your GFCI is going to trip the second you flip the switch. Also, double-check that your circuit can handle the peak wattage. If the voltage drops, the lamp dims and you lose that cozy heat density we worked so hard to get.
