
Getting Heat Where It Actually Matters in Your PET Preforms
If you’re running Sacmi SBF 12/24 or Husky HyPET systems, you know the struggle. You’ve got thick-walled preforms and you’re moving fast. The problem is usually the same: the outside of the plastic gets scorched before the center even warms up. In a high-speed operation, you can’t just sit around and wait for the heat to “soak” in. You need it to hit the core immediately. The trick is all in the wavelength. Most standard lamps just blast the outer skin with energy. We do things differently. By tweaking the quartz and using halogen doping, we shift the light spectrum. Instead of hitting the surface, the infrared energy punches right through to the middle of the PET. This kills off those annoying “cold spots.” No more uneven walls. No more pearlescence ruining your bottles. No rewiring, no headaches. We made these as drop-in replacements. They fit the exact footprint and electrical load of your OEM parts, so you don’t have to spend your weekend rewiring the oven. Whether you’re on 230V or 400V, the wattage is dialed in for high-cycle speeds. We also beefed up the contacts. In a 24/7 production environment, lamps take a beating, and terminals often arc and fail. We fixed that. A couple of things to keep in mind… Here’s the deal: more heat density means you can push more product through, but it makes your cooling blowers work harder. If you crank up the wattage for deeper penetration, just make sure your ventilation can actually clear the air. If the oven gets too stuffy, you’ll end up degrading the resin. And please, keep your reflectors clean. It doesn’t matter how fancy the lamp is—if there’s a layer of carbon buildup on the mirror, your efficiency tanks. The lamps have to run hotter to compensate, and that just kills their lifespan faster. Give them a wipe, and they’ll last much longer.
